동아시아 중국 대만 갈등과 한미일 협력에 관한 연구

A Study on the Conflict between East Asia, China and Taiwan and the Cooperation between South Korea, the U.S. and Japan

2024년 1월 13일 대만의 선거가 끝났고 보다 미국에게 우호적인 민진당 후보 라이칭더가 당선되었다. 미국의 바이든 대통령은 대만 선거 이후 대만이 독립하는 것에는 반대한다고 하면서 중국과 대립하려는 모습을 보이지 않고 자극하지 않으려는 입장을 밝혔다. 중국은 그동안 대만에 대하여 공격적인 태도를 보여왔다. 2027년에 중국이 대만을 공격한다는 이야기가 나올 정도이다. 2027년은 중국 인민해방군 건군 100주년 기념이 되는 해이다. 중국이 대만에 대하여 공격적인 것과 관련하여 일본의 기시다 후미오 총리는 중국이 대만을 공격하지 않고 평화를 지키는 것이 중요하다는 발언을 하였다. 미국의 경우에는 중국이 대만을 공격할 경우에 대만을 지원한다는 계획을 갖고 있다. 일본의 경우에도 중국이 대만을 공격하는 일이 없어야 하지만 미일동맹을 토대로 대만을 지원할 가능성이 높다. 한국의 경우에도 한미동맹을 기반으로 대만을 어떠한 방식으로든 지원할 가능성이 있다. 중국이 대만을 무력으로 공격하게 되면 동아시아 지형은 심각하게 위험할 수 밖에 없다. 본 연구는 동아시아 지역에서 중국과 대만이 갈등하는 것에 관하여 상세하게 분석을 하고 이러한 위협에 대응하기 위하여 한국, 미국, 일본이 어떻게 협력하여야 하는 지에 대하여 연구하고자 한다.

On January 13, 2024, Taiwan's election ended and a more U.S.-friendly Democratic Progressive Party candidate, Raichinger, was elected. President Biden of the U.S. said that he opposes Taiwan's independence after the Taiwanese election, but does not show any confrontation with China and does not want to provoke it. The year 2027 marks the centennial anniversary of the Chinese People's Liberation Army's invasion of Taiwan. Regarding China's aggressive stance toward Taiwan, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said that it is important for China to keep the peace without attacking Taiwan; in the case of the United States, it plans to support Taiwan if China attacks Taiwan. In the case of Japan, China should not attack Taiwan, but it is highly likely that it will support Taiwan based on the US-Japan alliance. In the case of Korea, there is a possibility that it will support Taiwan in any way based on the US-ROK alliance. If China attacks Taiwan by force, the East Asian terrain will be seriously dangerous. The purpose of this study is to analyze the conflict between China and Taiwan in East Asia in detail and to study how South Korea, the United States and Japan should cooperate to cope with these threats.
