문화콘텐츠를 활용한 한국어 문학교육 방안 연구 - 외국인 유학생의 문화교육 과정을 중심으로

A Study on Korean Literature Education Methods Based On Cultural Contents - Focus on Culture Education of International Students

This paper explores methods for integrating cultural content into literary education for international students. Culture education is imperative for international students not only to acquire language proficiency but also to comprehend Korean culture. This is because by gaining insight into Korean culture, students can not only enhance their communication abilities but also develop a deeper understanding of Korean society. Building upon the concept of ‘remediation’, this study proposes a method of utilizing newly created cultural content derived from literary works for culture education. The animation “Spring Spring” (2014) remediating Kim Yu-jeong’s “Bom Bom,” exemplifies the outcome of reproducing the original work in a new medium with minimal alterations. Such content facilitates students’ understanding of non-verbal and colloquial expressions and the narrative construction inherent in the original work. Similarly, the film “Dongju” (2016), portraying Yun Dong-ju’s life, offers a novel approach to appreciating poetry by narrating the poet’s life. Through the film, students get opportunities to interpret the profound meaning of Yun Dong-ju’s poetic emotions, such as shame. Cultural content helps international students unfamiliar with Korean understand the meaning of literary works through visual representations. Furthermore, cultural contents that are the reproduction of canonical Korean literature serve to stimulate students’ interest. Grounded in the knowledge and experience of Korean literature, foreign learners can evolve into individuals capable of comparing Korean culture with that of their home country from an intercultural perspective, thereby fostering appreciation for both cultures.
