투광효과 도자기의 특징요소에 관한 연구 - 이인화 작품을 중심으로

A Study on the Characteristic Elements of Light-transmitting Ceramics : Focusing on Lee In-hwa’s Works

투광성(透光性; translucency)은 빛을 통과시키는 성질을 말한다. 도자기 장식 효과의 발달로 인해 투광 효과를 활용하여 도자기를 표현하는 작가들이 점차 증가하고 있으며, 투광성 도자기에 영향을 미치는 요인도 끊임없이 변화하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 투광성 도자기 작품 사례를 통해 투광 효과 도자기의 특징 요소를 분석하고자 한다. 다양한 장식 효과는 투광성 도자기의 발전에 많은 영향을 미쳤다. 도예 작가 이인화는 얇은 도자기가 반투명하게 비치는 모습을 보고 투광 효과를 갖는 도자 작업을 시작하였으며, 2011년 석사과정 졸업 후부터 현재까지 13년간 제작된 그의 투광성 작품은 빠르게 발전을 거듭하였다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 이인화의 투광성 작품을 선정하여 투광 효과 도자기 특성을 '기벽 두께, 재료 배합, 투광 유약'의 세 가지 요소로 구분하여 이 요소들의 특징과 장단점을 분석하였다. 본 연구에서는 투광성의 개념과 원리, 투광 효과 도자기의 발전 과정 및 현황을 살펴보고, 이인화의 투광성 도자기 작품을 통해 투광성 도자기의 특징적인 요소를 제시하였으며, 본 연구를 통하여 투광 효과 도자기의 발전적 측면에서 미래를 위해 수많은 가능성을 제시한다는 점에 의의를 가진다.

Translucency refers to the property of transmitting light. With the development of decorative effects in ceramics, more artists are utilizing translucency as an expressive tool in their works, and the factors influencing translucent ceramics are continually evolving.This study aims to analyze and organize the characteristic elements of translucent ceramics through case studies of works that demonstrate the desired properties. Various decorative effects greatly contribute to the advancement of translucent ceramics.Ceramic artist Lee In-hwa first started working with translucent ceramics after observing the semi-transparent appearance of thin ceramics. Since graduating with a master's degree in 2011, her translucent works have developed rapidly over the past 13 years. Therefore, this study selected Lee In-hwa's translucent works to analyze the characteristics of translucent ceramics, categorizing them into three elements: wall thickness, material composition, and translucent glaze.The research results present the characteristics, strengths, and weaknesses of these three factors. This study examines the conceptual principles of translucency, the development process, and the current status of translucent ceramics, highlighting the characteristic elements through the evolution of Lee In-hwa's translucent ceramic works. From the perspective of the development of translucent ceramics, it provides more possibilities for future expression and advancement of translucent ceramic works.
