A Study Of the Ceramic Sculpture Expressing the Body

초록

본 연구는 모리스 메를로-퐁티(Maurice Merleau-Ponty, 1908-1961)의 심신론을 기반으로 몸을 표현한 도자 작품을 새로운 관점에서 분석해 보고자 한다. 자신만의 심신론을 구축하고 이분법적인 몸이 아닌 몸을 이야기한 메를로-퐁티를 통해 도자 작품의 현상학적 관점에서 도자 조형 작품을 분석한다. 특히 현대 도자 작품 중 몸 형상을 표현한 도자 작품을 중심으로 분석하고, 작품을 바라보는 관점의 외연을 넓혀보고자 한다. 이를 위해 메를로-퐁티의 심신론을 ‘현상의 장’, ‘육화’, ‘몸 도식’의 세 가지 핵심어를 중심으로 살핀다. 각 핵심어를 세 작가의 작품 분석에 적용하여 현상학적으로 유의미한 접근을 시도한다. 이로써 본 연구는 조형 작품을 보는 새로운 시각으로서 메를로-퐁티의 심신론을 제시하고 도자 조형 작품을 보는 관점을 넓히는데 기여하고자 한다.

Based on the mind-body theory of Maurice Merleau-Ponty (1908-1961), this study aims to analyze ceramic sculptures that express the body from a new perspective. This study analyzes ceramic sculptures from the phenomenological point of view through Merleau-Ponty, who talks about the whole body rather than a dichotomous body. In particular, among contemporary ceramic sculptures, it is analyzed focusing on sculptures that express body shape, and attempts to expand the scope of perspective. This examines Merleau-Ponty's mind-body theory, focusing on three keywords: 'the phenomenal Feild', 'Embody', and 'the corporeal scheama'. Each keyword is applied to the artists and analyzed to try a phenomenologically meaningful approach. As a result, this study aims to present Merleau-Ponty's mind-body theory as a new perspective on sculptural works and to contribute to broadening the perspective on ceramic sculptural works.
