Current Status and Prospects of Generative AI Platform Utilization in Korean Academia focusing on ChatGPT

This study explores how generative AI, particularly ChatGPT, has shifted public discourse on artificial intelligence and examines domestic and international research trends and academic responses. It focuses on the paradigm shift in academic research methods following the launch of ChatGPT, emphasizing the utility of generative AI platforms as research support tools and writing aids, including translation. Findings show that researchers are actively using generative AI throughout the research process. The utility of AI platforms as research support tools and multilingual writing aids significantly boosts the productivity of non-native English-speaking researchers, enhancing their opportunities for global academic participation. This improvement will increase fairness in scholarly publishing and resource distribution, fostering a positive cycle in the research ecosystem through the routine use of integrated AI platform services for scholars based on sLLM. AI platforms are expected to expand their role as indispensable research tools and collaborative partners, acting as catalysts for the integration of the global academic community.
