This study aims to develop methods for teaching and assessing English listening skills using gamification strategies for secondary EFL students. It explores the need to apply gamification strategies in the development of teaching and learning materials that utilize past exam questions for the assessment of English listening skills. Quest-based learning (QBL) is proposed as an effective way to improve English listening skills. Three game approaches are suggested: a virtual breakout game, an unlocking game, and a speed game. The suggestions of this study could contribute to the creation of teaching and learning methods for QBL that make learning English both enjoyable and meaningful for students.
