외국인 유학생의 여가스트레스대처 정도에 문화적응스트레스와 삶의 만족과의 관계

The relationship between acculturation stress and life satisfaction in the degree of leisure stress coping of international students

본 연구는 외국인 유학생들의 한국에서의 여가활동에 대한 스트레스대처 능력의 정도에 따라 이들의 문화적응스트레스와 삶의만족과 어떤 관계가 형성되는지 알아보고자 하였다. 이 사항에 대한 문제를 살펴보기 위하여 2023년 3월한달간 거주기간을 3년 이하로 설정하여, 유학생 264명을 유목적표집을 통해 데이터를 수집하였으며, 분석결과 다음의 두가지 사항과 같은 결과가 나타났다. 첫째, 이들이 갖고 있는 여가스트레스 대처가 높은 경우, 이들의 문화적응스트레스가 삶의 만족에 긍정적 작용을 하는 것을 확인 할 수 있었다. 이는 이들이 한국사회에 적응하는 것에 긍정적영향을 미치는 결과를 갖고 있음을 증명하고 있는 사항이라 본다. 둘째, 이들이 갖고 있는 여가스트레스대처 능력이낮은 경우, 이들의 문화적응스트레스가 삶의 만족에 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 이들의 삶에 문화적응 스트레스가 삶의 만족에 의미가 없는 사항으로 나타났다. 유학생들에게 문화적응스트레스가 한류로 인한 그 정도가 낮게 영향을 미칠 수 있는 사안이 될 수 있을 지라도 이들에게 적절한 여가경험을 할 수 있는 프로그램 제공이중요함을 우리는 인식해야 할 것이다.

This study sought to determine the relationship between acculturation stress and life satisfaction of international students based on their ability to cope with stress related to leisure activities in Korea. In order to examine this issue, data were collected through purposive sampling of 264 international students by setting the residence period to 3 years or less during the month of March 2023, and the results of the analysis showed the following two results. First, when their ability to cope with leisure stress was high, it was confirmed that their acculturation stress had a positive effect on life satisfaction. I believe this proves that they are having a positive impact on their adaptation to Korean society. Second, when their ability to cope with leisure stress was low, their acculturation stress did not appear to affect their life satisfaction. This showed that acculturation stress in their lives was of no significance to life satisfaction. Although acculturation stress may be an issue that may have a low impact on international students due to the Korean Wave, we must recognize the importance of providing programs that allow them to have appropriate leisure experiences.
