고통, 연대 그리고 그리스도인 됨

Suffering, Solidarity, and Being Christian

인간은 누구나 고통을 받는다. 이것을 완전히 해소하는 것은 불가능하지만, 연민과 공감으로써 제한적인 극복을 이뤄낼 수 있다. 함께 고통을 느끼며 곧 고통 연대를 통해서 고통을 극복하는 것이다. 그리고 이 ‘고통 연대’는 인간을 성화토록 한다. 그렇다면 인간 성화를 위한 고통의 연대란 무엇일까? 그것은 하나님의 ‘자기 비움’이다. 하나님은 자기를 제한함으로 세상을 창조하셨고 예수 그리스도를 통해 고통 안으로 들어왔으며, 성령의 내주하심을 통해 인간과 항상 연대한다. 성육신 사건은 고통 연대의 절정이며 예수의 삶은 가난하고 소외된 이들과 같이 고통 받는 이들에게 먼저 다가가는 삶이었다. 그는 인간 고통의 정점인 죽음까지 감당하고 부활을 통해 인간에게 부활, 영생, 성화 곧 구원의 희망을 준다. 그러나 오늘 개인주의적 신앙은 연대성을 망각하게 했다. 사사회된 신앙은 스스로 자신을 구원하고자 하는 자기우상화와의 모습과 다르지 않다. 그래서 기독교는 ‘자비’에 집중한다, 왜냐하면 ‘자비’에는 고통 연대가 포함되어 있기 때문이다. 곧 하나님이 인간에게 느끼는 연민과 공감이며 사랑을 베푸는 구체적인 행위다. 그러므로 인간은 예수 그리스도를 따라 이웃을 사랑하고 고통에 연대하는 제자도를 통해 성화를 이루어 간다.

All humans suffer. It is impossible to completely eliminate this, but we can achieve limited overcoming through compassion and empathy. We overcome pain through pain solidarity as soon as we feel it together. And this “pain solidarity” makes humans into sanctification. So what is the solidarity of pain for the sanctification of humans? It is God’s “self-emptying.” God created the world by limiting himself, entered into suffering through Jesus Christ, and is always in solidarity with humans through the inner periphery of the Holy Spirit. The incident of the incarnated God was the culmination of pain solidarity, and Jesus’ life was a life that first approached those who suffer, such as the poor and marginalized. He endured until death, the culmination of human suffering, and through his resurrection, he gives humans the hope of resurrection, eternal life, the sanctification, and soon salvation. However, today’s individualistic faith has forgotten solidarity. Social faith is no different from the self-idolization of saving oneself. So Christianity focuses on “mercy,” because “mercy” includes pain solidarity. It is a concrete act of love, of compassion and sympathy that God immediately feels for humans. Thus, humans are sanctified through the disciples who love their neighbors in line with Jesus Christ and share in their suffering.
