How does theology justify faith?: On the Fundamental Theological Potential of Theological Action Theory

이 연구의 목적은 포이커트의 신학적 행위이론의 기초신학적 가능성을 검토해 보는 것이다. 이를 위해서 신학적 행위이론의 사상적 배경이 되는 철학사적 맥락과 그 안에서 확인할 수 있는 철학적 근본 통찰이 무엇인지 살펴본다. 그리고 신학적 행위이론이 언어이론과 행위이론을 아우르는 화용론적 사유와 특히 하버마스의 의사소통행위이론의 학문이론적 단초를 어떠한 방식으로 수용하는지 검토한다. 여기서는 그 과정이 수용과 비판 그리고 신학적 확장의 방식으로 진행됨이 확인된다. 그리고 가톨릭 기초신학자 한스위르겐 페어바이언의 비판적 지적을 소개한다. 그의 비판은 포이커트와 전혀 다른 기초신학적 입장에서 제기된다. 따라서 신학적 행위이론의 기초신학적 가능성은 비판적 논의에서 확인할 수 있는 입장의 차이를 어떻게 해석하고 평가하는지에 따라 결정된다. 포이커트의 신학적 행위이론은 신앙의 본질과 신학의 과제에 대한 고유한 통찰과 새로운 접근 방식을 제시함으로써 의미 있는 기초신학적 가능성을 보여준다고 평가할 수 있다. 이러한 새로운 가능성은 오히려 페어바이언의 비판을 통해 선명하게 확인할 수 있다. 그러나 기초신학의 가능성은 하나의 신학 이론에 의해 완전히 실현될 수 없다. 기초신학이 자신이 속한 시대의 합리적 이성의 포럼에서 자신의 과제를 수행해야 하는 한, 그의 가능성은 완결될 수 없다. 신학적 행위이론은 기초신학의 임무를 충실히 수행하기 위해 완결되지는 않았지만 유효하고 타당한 전망을 제공하는 한, 자신의 존재 이유를 갖는다.

The purpose of this study is to examine the fundamental theological potential of Peukert's theological action theory. To achieve this, the study explores the philosophical context that forms the background of the theological action theory and identifies the fundamental philosophical insights within it. Additionally, the study examines how the theological action theory incorporates pragmatic thinking encompassing both linguistic and action theories, particularly through the academic foundation of Habermas's theory of communicative action. This process involves acceptance, critique, and theological expansion. The study introduces the critical insights of Catholic fundamental theologian Hansjürgen Verweyen, whose criticisms are presented from a distinctly different fundamental theological perspective than Peukert's. Thus, the fundamental theological potential of the theological action theory is determined by how it interprets and evaluates these differing positions in critical discussions. Peukert's theological action theory can be assessed as presenting significant fundamental theological potential by offering unique insights and new approaches to the essence of faith and the tasks of theology. These new possibilities are further clarified through Verweyen's critiques. However, the potential of fundamental theology cannot be fully realized by a single theological theory. As long as fundamental theology must perform its taskswithin the forum of rational reason of its era, its potential remains incomplete. The theological action theory, although not fully complete, has its raison d'être as it provides valid and meaningful perspectives to faithfully fulfill the tasks of fundamental theology.
