The purpose of this research is to explore the necessity and strategies for implementing AI-driven smart factories in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) amid the Fourth Industrial Revolution. It reviews the historical development and key features of AI technologies and investigates how IoT, big data, and AI are utilized in smart factory environments. The study emphasizes benefits such as increased productivity, cost reduction, and improved quality, while addressing significant challenges including high initial costs, lack of technical infrastructure, and data security concerns. A strategic, phased approach for SMEs is proposed, involving preparation, planning, initial implementation, advanced optimization, and ongoing evaluation. This research provides practical insights for SMEs and policymakers, highlighting the importance of strategic planning, leveraging government and private support, and overcoming technical and security challenges to achieve sustainable digital transformation and competitive advantage.
