부여 북나성(北羅城)에서 출토된 직물에 관한 연구

A study on The Fabric Excavated from Outer City North Wall, Buyeo

2023년 부여 나성(북나성,11차) 발굴조사 출토 직물은 삼국시대에 형성된 토층인 Ⅲ-2층군의 2-2단계 석렬 1 전면 구지표 상부에서 점토질의 흙과 함께 출토된 것으로 삼국시대 백제에서 사용되었던 직물로 추정된다. 본 연구는 출토된 직물 1점의 보존처리를 위한 세척과정과 직물을 이루는 섬유의 종류 및 직물의 구성 특성 분석 결과이다. 점토질의 흙을 직물에서 분리하고 오염물질의 제거를 위해 초음파 세척하였으며, 직물 손상을 최소화하기 위해 세척은 최대 4회, 총 15분 이하로 진행되었다. 세척 후 회수된 출토직물의 무게는 1.32g이었다. 출토직물을 구성하는 섬유는 SEM, EDS, FT-IR 분석을 통해 대마섬유로 분석되었다. 직물의 평균 두께는 1.06±0.04mm이었다. 경사와 위사의 평균직경은 각각 0.83±0.13mm, 0.55±0.09mm으로 경사가 위사보다 굵고 실의 굵기가 일정하지 않은 거친 직물이었다. 직물의 밀도는 11.29×8.41(경사×위사/cm2)로 36㎝ 포폭을 기준으로 약 5승포로 환산되었다. 출토직물은 경사에 미약한 S꼬임이 있고, 위사에는 꼬임이 없는 단일 대마사를 사용하여 평직으로 직조된 삼베직물로 확인되었다. 5승포의 거친 삼베직물임을 감안할 때 출토직물의 용도는 의복용 재료 외에도 생활용품이나 화폐로 사용되었을 가능성이 크다.

This study is the result of the washing process for preservation of one piece of excavated fabric and the analysis of the types of fibers that make up the fabric and the composition characteristics of the fabric. The fabric subject to analysis was excavated along with clay soil from a soil layer formed during the Three Kingdoms period and is presumed to be a fabric used during the Baekje period. The clayey soil was separated from the fabric and washed ultrasonically to remove contaminants. To minimize damage to the fabric, washing was performed up to 4 times for a total of 15 minutes or less. The weight of the excavated fabric recovered after washing was 1.32g. The fibers that make up the excavated fabric were analyzed as hemp fibers through SEM, EDS, and FT-IR analysis. The average thickness of the fabric was 1.06 ± 0.04 mm. The average diameter of the warp and weft threads was 0.83 ± 0.13 mm and 0.55 ± 0.09 mm, respectively, making it a rough fabric with warp threads thicker than weft threads and thread thickness not constant. The density of the fabric was 11.29×8.41 (warp×weft/cm2), which was converted to approximately 5 seungpo based on 36cm fabric width.The excavated fabric was confirmed to be a plain weave hemp fabric woven using a single hemp yarns with a weak S-twist in both the warp and untwist hemp yarn in the weft. Considering that it is a rough hemp 5 seungpo, it is highly likely that the excavated fabric was used not only as a material for clothing but also as daily necessities or currency.
