The purpose of this study is to explore the enlightenment of Japanese and Korean welfare policy systems for the elderly on the optimization of welfare systems in the context of China's aging society. Through in-depth analysis of the main contents and characteristics of the welfare systems for the elderly in Japan and South Korea, this study adopts the methods of literature review and comparative analysis and finds that the two countries have established a comprehensive welfare system in pension, medical security, long-term care insurance, and social participation. The results show that Japan and South Korea have made remarkable achievements in coping with the challenge of aging, and their experiences are of great significance for optimizing China's welfare system. The conclusion of this study is that China should learn from the successful experience of the two countries in the construction of the welfare system for the elderly and further improve and optimize its own welfare system so as to better cope with the increasingly severe challenges of aging.
