A Study on the Analysis of Materials and Technologies Applied to Furniture from the Joseon Dynasty and Modern Furniture

The outlook for future furniture design is expected to be dominated by naturalistic furniture considering the environment as the need for new materials increases due to the deple- tion of resources. Modern furniture design philosophy, combined with technology, can provide a convenient life for humans while satisfying emotional aspects. The common point between the mechanical beauty and the concept of modern design due to advanced technology will de- velop into a future-oriented formative beauty that modernly interprets the unvarnished con- sciousness of the Joseon Dynasty, the functional beauty and the formative beauty of sincere structure. It is believed that this is a new direction that furniture design in the 21st century should pursue. In addition, future furniture should consider the environment and continue to develop with the development of nature-friendly materials and technologies.
