Korea's traditional culture and arts have been passed down through a long history of about 5,000 years and have been passed down from the past to the present. Among them, Korea's traditional craft lacquerware has been used for about 1,000 years. During the Goryeo Dynasty, the mother-of-pearl lacquerware technique was adopted from the Chinese Tang Dynasty, and through the Joseon Dynasty and modern times after the opening of ports, it was generally used for furniture and household items from the 1960s to the early 1980s. It has been done. Korea's mother-of-pearl lacquerware technique is superior to that of China and Japan, and with its beautiful colors and delicate patterns, it is a great heritage that deserves to be proud of around the world and requires efforts to preserve and manage. However, with the ad- vent of industrial society in 1980, Korea's mother-of-pearl lacquerware crafts are increasingly be- ing neglected and eliminated due to changes in Westernized lifestyles, living environments, and housing structures. This may be due to changes in the tastes of consumers purchasing products, but we take the view that due to the low production efficiency of the process for maintaining the quality of traditional objects using mother-of-pearl lacquerware techniques, they have been replaced by mass-produced products and pushed out by industrial furniture. . Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to rediscover Korea's traditional cultural values according to the trends of the times, to create practical use of the beauty of traditional art, and to develop modern fur- niture designs that are compatible with the cultural life of the present era.
