대한민국 독서대전 개최지의 독서문화행사 연구

A Study on Reading Culture Events in Korea Reading Festival

본 연구는 범국민 책 읽기 문화 확산과 독서진흥 활성화를 위해 개최되는 대한민국 독서대전 개최지의 선정이유를 살펴보고, 해당 지역이 선정되는데 영향을 미쳤던 지역의 특색있는 독서문화행사를 밝혀내어 지역별 경쟁력 있는 독서문화행사의 우수사례를 발굴하는 것에 그 목표가 있다. 독서대전은 2014년부터 개최된 이래 11년이 지났음에도 불구하고 관련 논의가 거의 이루어지지 않은 상황이라, 본 연구에서는 먼저 대한민국 독서대전의 법적 근거, 운영 목적, 운영 과정 등을 포함한 독서대전 개요를 살펴보았다. 이에 더해 총 10개 개최지의 선정이유를 다룬 공식보도자료, 지역신문기사, 관련 연구 등에서 언급된 독서문화행사를 분석하여 선정이유를 파악하였다. 조사 결과, 10개 지역 중 6개 지역이 한 도시 한 책 읽기 운동을 하고 있었고, 해당 독서운동은 점점 지역과 밀착된 모습으로 변모하고 있었다. 또 하나 눈에 띄는 특징은 지역 내 다양한 기관의 관심과 협력을 기반으로 책과 독서와 관련한 지역 축제 및 행사가 운영 중이라는 점이었다. 본 연구를 계기로 지역 중심의 독서문화행사의 성공사례가 공유되어 지역 독서 활성화에 긍정적 영향을 줄 수 있기를 기대한다.

The purpose of this study is to examine the reasons for selecting the regions for the Korea Reading Festival, which is held to promote reading promotion, to identify unique reading promotion events in the region, and to discover excellent examples of competitive reading culture events in each region. Even though 11 years have passed since Korea Reading Festival was held, there has been little discussion about it. Therefore, this study looked at the overview of the Korea Reading Festival, including its legal basis, operational purpose, and stages. In addition, the current status of Korea Reading Festival was investigated by analyzing press releases, newspaper, and related studies that covered the reasons for the selection of 10 regions. As a result, except for some regions, there were unique reading events in each region. Six regions were carrying out a ‘One Book, One City’, and this reading movement was gradually becoming more localized. Another notable feature was that local festivals related to books and reading were being operated based on the interest and cooperation of various organizations in the region. This study will have a positive impact on revitalizing local reading by sharing success stories of regional reading culture events.
