A Study on the Use of Machine Translation In Korean Language Education

최근 들어 기계번역은 단지 언어 간의 문자 변환을 넘어 STT(음성인식), TTT(자동번역), TTS(음성합성) 엔진과의 결합을 통해 STS(자동통역기)의 역할을 수행하는 단계에 이르렀다. 이러한 기계적 융합을 크게 인공지능을 활용한 기계번역(MT)의 영역이라고 정의할 수 있다. 그리고 이 기계번역은 최근 빠른 발전하여, 우리의 일상생활 곳곳에서 활용되고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 MT의 현 단계에서 기존의 외국어교육, 특히 한국어교육에서의 MT활용방안을 모색해보고자 한다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 MT의 발전을 돌아보고, 이후 외국어교육의 변화된 환경에 맞는 새로운 교육환경을 살펴보고자 한다. 이를 위해 먼저 MT의 발전과정을 살펴보았으며, 다음으로 국내에서 활용되고 있는 사례를 살펴보았다. 그리고 교육과 연계할 수 있는 MT의 활용범위와 그 기능적 특성을 살펴보았다. 마지막으로 외국어(한국어)교육에서 새로운 교육환경으로 제시되고 있는 MT를 효과적인 외국어교육의 도구로 인도할 수 있는 적극적인 고민을 제안하고 있다.

Korean Language and Literature 00~0, 00~00. In recent years, machine translation has reached the stage of not just performing simple word to word translation but also performs the role of STS by combining STT, TTT and TTS engines. Such mechanical fusion can be defined as the domain of machine translation that makes use of artificial intelligence. This machine translation is developing rapidly and is being incorporated in our daily day to day life. The purpose of this study is to explore the uses of MT in existing foreign language education, especially in Korean Language education. For this, this study will look back on the development process of MT, and then look for a new educational environment to suit the changed environment of foreign language education. Accordingly, the development process of MT and the cases that are being used in Korea are being thoroughly examined. Not only that, but the scope and functional characteristics of MT that can be linked with education were also being examined. The paper then concludes with a suggestion that MT, which is being proposed as a new educational environment in foreign language (Korean Language) education can be used as a tool for effective language education.
