한국 정부초청 아제르바이잔 장학생의 학업 경험에 관한 사례 연구

Case Study on the Academic Experiences of Korean Government Scholarship Students from Azerbaijan

이 연구는 재한 아제르바이잔 정부초청 장학생의 사례를 통하여 그들의 학업 경험에 대한 의미를 탐구하고자 하였다. 연구 목적을 위해 한국 내 거주하는 아제르바이잔 유학생들의 한국 대학에서의 학업 경험을 대학수업에서의 경험 측면, 선후배 및 동료와의 관계 측면, 교수와의 관계 측면, 학습활동의 경험 측면에서 살펴보았다. 자료 수집은 서울에 위치한 대학원에 재학 중인 한국정부초청 아제르바이잔 유학생 5명을 대상으로 심층인터뷰를 통해 이루어졌다. 대학 수업에서의 교육 경험 측면에서는 ‘처음 경험한 교육 시스템’, ‘학문적 한국어의 한계’, 선배 및 동료와의 관계 측면에서는 ‘가이드는 선배나 동료보다 인터넷’, ‘따르기 어려운 서열관계’, 교수와의 관계 측면에서는 ‘지나친 권위로 인한 어려움’, ‘다양한 의견에 대한 소통 거부 ’, 학습 활동의 경험 측면에서는 ‘한국 학생의 배제와 분리’, ‘유학생 간의 상호의존’으로 나타났다. 이 연구는 한국정부초청 아제르바이잔 장학생에 대한 이해를 통해 향후 아제르바이잔 유학생에 대한 보다 다양한 주제의 연구를 위한 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

This study aims to examine the academic experiences of government scholarship students from Azerbaijan using a case study. The data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews with five international students from Azerbaijan in Seoul. For educational experiences in the college, the students responded that their first experiences relate to the educational system, Korean education limitations, and real-life peers. In terms of their relationship with the professor, the students experienced the following: “difficulties due to excessive authority,” “denying communication about various opinions,” “exclusion and separation of Korean students,” and “mutual between foreign students.” This study will provide basic data for studying more diverse subjects for government scholarship students from Azerbaijan.
