외국인 유학생을 위한 한국어 지역어 교육 연구 - 드라마를 활용한 듣기 수업 사례를 통해

Study of Local Language Learning by International Students in Korea : A Case Study of Listening Classes with Korean TV Drama

본 연구는, 외국인 유학생을 대상으로 한국어의 지역어를 교육하는 방안을 모색하는 데 목적이 있다. 지금까지 한국어 지역어 교육 연구는 주로 지역어 교육의 필요성에 관한 것, 결혼 이민자를 위한 지역어 교육에 관한 것이 대부분을 차지한다. 지역에 거주하는 외국인 유학생을 위한 지역어 교육 관련 연구는 거의 이루어지고 있지 않다. 이에 본 연구에서는 우선, 지역에 거주하는 외국인 유학생들이 한국어 지역어에 대해 어떻게 인식하고 있고, 지역어 교육에 대해 어떻게 생각하는지 설문조사를 통해 알아보았다. 그 설문조사 결과를 바탕으로, 드라마를 활용한 듣기 수업에서 지역어를 교육할 수 있는 방안을 제시해 보았다. 특히 표준어와 지역어의 대비를 통해 양쪽을 다 이해할 수 있는 방법과 한국의 여러 지역 방언에 대한 일반적 특성을 이해할 수 있는 방법, 이렇게 두 가지로 나누어 수업 사례를 소개하였다. 이 연구는, 외국인 유학생들이 지역 대학에서 공부하고, 지역민들과 소통하기 위해 지역어를 어디까지, 어떻게 배우는 것이 좋을지를 고민해 보고, 외국인 유학생을 위한 한국어 지역어 교육이 어떤 방향으로 나아가야 할지 논의해 보았다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

This study aims to explore the different ways of learning local languages by international students in Korea. Although there have been various studies on learning local Korean languages, they have mainly focused on the learning needs for marriage immigrants, but not on the requirements of international students in Korea. Thus, this study conducted a survey that demonstrates the degrees of understanding of local Korean, as well as the thoughts and opinions about local language lessons among international students in an area in Korea. In addition, based on the survey analysis, this study suggests lesson plans for local Korean listening courses using TV drama. Specifically, the ways of understanding both standard and local Korean language through comparisons and contrasts, and learning the general characteristics of various local Korean languages are introduced in a class setting. This study examined the appropriate levels and ways of learning local Korean languages for international students who need to learn Korean for the purpose of studying in local colleges and communicating with local communities. It concludes with a discussion on the implications of a practice of local language education in Korea.
