러시아어권 한국어 학습자의 공손성 및 거절 화행 연구

A Study on Politeness and Refusal Speech Act Realization by Russian Learners of Korean Language

본 연구는 러시아어권 한국어 학습자의 공손 표현 양상과 거절 화행에 대하여 연구하였다. 이를 위해 예비조사를 거쳐, 본 조사는 2017년 4 월 24일부터 7월 3일까지 한국어 모어 화자 50명과 러시아어권 중고급 한국어 학습자 50명을 대상으로 설문을 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 한국어 모어 화자의 경우 상황별 공손성 양상에 대하여 ‘상대의 이야기를 잘 들어준다’가 16명(35.6%)으로 가장 높았으나, 러시아어권 중고급 한국어 학습자의 경우 ‘다른 사람의 감정을 생각’, ‘사람마다 의견이 다르다는 것을 인정하는 것’, ‘대상에 따라 존댓말을 잘 사용하는 것’ 각각 11명(33.3%)으로 나타났다. 또한 거절 화행 전략 유형과 공손성 간의 관련성을 살펴본 결과, 러시아어권 중고급 한국어 학습자의 경우 이유제시와 사과표시의 비율이 높고, 직접거절의 비율이 높았다. 반면에 한국어 모어 화자의 경우 거절 화행 전략 유형과 공손성 간의 관계는 유의한 차이가 있어 관련성이 있음을 알 수 있다. 이상의 연구결과는 공손 및 거절 화행은 상대방이 누구인지, 대화의 주제는 무엇인지 등을 모두 알맞게 파악해야 함을 시사하고 있다. 이를 통해 거절 전략에 대한 명시적 학습을 통해 학습자들은 거절해야 하는 상황과 그에 맞게 사용해야 되는 전략에 대한 구사를 확실하게 자각한 것으로 판단할 수 있다. 이에 따라 거절 전략과 그것을 구현하는 거절 표현 습득의 차이를 좁히고 이 두 가지 개념을 통합하여 지도 할 필요가 있다.

This study examined the polite expression patterns and refusal expressions among students learning the Korean language in Russia. After a preliminary test, a survey was conducted on 50 native Korean speakers and 50 Russian students learning Korean in middle- and high-level classes from April 24 to July 3, 2017. The data analysis showed that the number of native Korean speakers who pointed out that politeness is “to listen carefully to what others are saying” was 16 (35.6%), the highest ratio. However, 11 Russian students (33.6%) responded positively to each of the following survey items: politeness is “to consider the emotions of others,” “to recognize that different people have different opinions,” and “to use polite expressions depending on the other person.” Additionally, with regard to the relationship between refusal expression strategies and politeness, Russian students tended to suggest reasons for refusal, apologize for their refusal, and were more likely to directly refuse. On the other hand, there were significant differences between the types of refusal expression strategies and politeness among native Korean speakers. This means that these two aspects are related. The above findings imply that politeness and expressions of refusal should require consideration of not only who the other party is but also what the subject of dialogue is. As a result of this finding, through explicit learning about refusal strategies, students have clearly recognized the situations in which they should refuse and the proper strategies to be used therein. Therefore, it is necessary to narrow the gap between refusal strategies and refusal expression learning and to guide students by combining these two things.
