A Study on Methods of Teaching Korean Body-Related Idioms by Using Mass Media Material

This is an attempt to make use of mass media material in teaching Korean body-related idioms which are made up of the terms for the body parts eye, nose, ear, mouth, head, hand and foot. This papers has analyzed 5 Korean language textbooks, 2 idiom textbooks for foreigners and 7 TOPIK tests to understand how body-related idiomatic phrases are presented. And then some authentic mass media material out of TV advertisement and newspapers is examined to see how the body-related idioms are in use in the everyday life of the Koreans. Then the authors have presented an effective teaching model 'introduction - presentation - practice and use - conclusion' for a concrete Korean body-related idiomatic phrase.
