As Artificial Intelligence (AI) becomes a global classroom feature, its impact on the well-being of students and teachers requires urgent attention. Starting in 2025, South Korea will lead this shift with the large-scale introduction of AI Digital Textbooks (AIDTs). While these innovations aim to enhance learning, their effects on student development remain underexplored. This paper introduces a Wellbeing Matrix to assess how AIDTs influence creativity, productivity, memory, motivation, and overall happiness, applying it for case studies in South Korean schools. The matrix evaluates both short- and long-term cognitive, psychological, and social development, highlighting the importance of fostering positive outcomes through AI integration. Furthermore, the UK's “AI for teachers” approach, which focuses on reducing teacher workloads through AI to ease Ofsted evaluations, contrasts with South Korea's focus on improving student learning. This suggests that alleviating teacher stress may become a key focus for South Korea’s future AI adoption strategy. Ultimately, the Wellbeing Matrix provides educators and policymakers a tool to ensure AI enhances the holistic development of students while balancing technological progress with wellbeing.
