17~19세기 안동 전주류씨 水谷派 官人들의 작품 속 ‘犯越’에 대한 인식

서북지역의 자연환경이나 사회적 조건 등은 그곳 지역민들만의 생활환경과 풍속을 형성하는데 크고 작은 영향을 미친다. 피지배계층이었던 백성들은 그들 나름의 살아갈 삶의 방식을 찾아야만 했다. 그 가운데 대표적인 것이 바로 ‘범월’이었다. 지배계층이었던 안동 전주류씨 수곡파 관인들에 있어서 서북지역 백성들의 ‘범월’에 대한 인식은 연민과 동정 그리고 원칙 사이에서 갈등하는 양상을 보인다. 또한 ‘奸民’이라는 표현을 통해 대국이었던 청나라의 정치적 압박에 의해 事大를 해야 했던 조선 정부의 대응 관계 속에서 자신의 삶을 살아간 백성들과 이를 인지한 사족 관인들의 인식 세계의 접점이 교차하고 있다. 17~19세기를 거치면서 백성들과 관인들의 ‘범월’에 대한 인식은 지역 문화를 파악하는데 일정 부분 기여한다. 서북지역에 대한 안동 전주류씨 수곡파의 기록문학은 대를 이어오면서 북방지역에 관심을 가지고, 그 지역의 자연환경과 지역민들의 생활상에 대한 風土記를 남겼다는 점에서 시사하는 바가 크다. 특히, ‘범월’이라고 하는 변경 지역민들의 고충을 가감 없이 드러내고 있다는 점에서 기록문학과 사실주의 문학을 표방한다. 오늘날 역사 사료의 온전한 이해는 꼭 필요한 부분이며, 이를 위해 전주류씨 사족 관원들이 던지는 메시지는 좋은 단서가 될 수 있겠다.
