The Founding Father of Chinese Animation : An Exploration of Wan Laiming's Animation Creation and Design Philosophy

中国动画奠基者——万籁鸣动画创作设计思想探究

[Background]After a century of development, Chinese animation has reached a new starting point. The pioneering efforts and creative philosophies of early animators have become valuable assets for contemporary Chinese animation, as it seeks to engage both the present era and the global stage. [Objective]To explore the animation creation and design philosophy of Wan Laiming, a pioneer and key founder of Chinese animation, with the aim of providing insights and references for the practice and development of Chinese animation in the new era. [Methods]By searching and reviewing a vast array of relevant literature, this study briefly reviews Wan Laiming's artistic life and his exploration of the art of animation, analyzing the design philosophy he developed in his animation creations. [Results]It is pointed out that Wan Laiming's animation creation and design philosophy can be divided into three aspects: “National Independent Technical Approach,” “National Self-Confident Artistic Form,” and “National Self-Strengthening Path Practice.” [Conclusion] The study concludes that Wan Laiming's animation creation and design philosophy has had a significant impact on the nationalization development of Chinese animation and still holds important enlightening significance for the contemporary development of Chinese animation.

【背景】中国动画在历经百年发展后，站在了新的起点上，动画先驱的奋斗史和创作思想正成为面向时代和世界的中国动画的宝贵财富。【目的】探讨中国动画先驱和重要奠基人——万籁鸣的动画创作设计思想，以期为新时代中国动画的实践和发展提供借鉴参考。【方法】通过搜寻及阅读大量相关的文献资料，简要回顾了万籁鸣的艺术人生及其对动画艺术的探索之路，分析其在动画创作中所形成的设计思想，【结果】指出万籁鸣的动画创作设计思想分为“民族自主的技术路线”“民族自信的艺术形式”以及“民族自强的道路践行”三个方面。【结论】指出万籁鸣的动画创作设计思想对中国动画民族化发展产生了重要影响，并对中国动画的当代发展仍然具有重要的启示作用。
