The Impact of Particulate Matters Reduction Policies on the Domestic Strawberry Market: Focusing on Regional Segmentation

This study investigates the supply and demand model of strawberries in various regions of Korea, with a focus on the impact of particulate matter (PM) on agricultural production. Despite the significant influence of PM on agricultural productivity, research examining its effects on crop prices and production remains limited. The primary objective of this study is to evaluate how varying concentrations of PM across regions such as Chungcheong, Jeolla, and Gyeongsang affect strawberry supply. A partial equilibrium model was developed, and four scenarios (1 through 4) were presented to explore interregional disparities. The results indicate clear variations in nationwide strawberry production and pricing based on reductions in PM levels in individual regions. These findings have implications for the development of predictive models that incorporate PM factors, the formulation of mitigation strategies for crops vulnerable to PM exposure, and future research on regional agricultural dynamics.
