아동양육시설 퇴소 성인의 원가족과 결혼 및 자녀양육 경험에 관한 질적 사례연구

A Case Study on the Experiences with Family of Origin, Marriage and Parenting of Adult Discharged from Out-of-Home Care

Objective: The purpose of this study was to explore how adults who have been discharged out-of-home care experience the family of origin and marriage life, thereby providing basic dada for child welfare practice and policy. Methods: Data were collected through in-depth in terviews from nine adults in their 20s to 50s discharged from out-of-home care and were ana lyzed using the qualitative case analysis. Results: First, the study participants drawn different views on finding their original family. The cases were divided into cases who people were in different to finding their biological parents, cases who thought they would find them someday, and cases who were actively trying to find their biological parents. The research participants’ feelings about their families of origin coexist with feelings of fear, resentment, anger, revenge toward parents who abandoned or abused their children, as well as a desire to be loved by their parents. Second, looking at the dating and married life of adults leaving out-of-home care, they found that it was difficult to maintain romantic relationships for a long time, and this was especially true when dating someone who grew up in a normal family, and others dat ed people from out-of-home care, which led to mutual growth. Third, many of the married re search participants were found to have fears about childbirth and childrearing, and a sense of burden about their role as parents. Conclusions: Based on these results, child welfare practice and policy implications were discussed to help out-of-home care adult’s relationship with their family of origin and formation of new families.
