This study estimates the willingness to pay (WTP) of livestock farmers who participated in livestock disease insurance using the contingent valuation method (CVM). The analysis reveals that the willingness to pay of existing subscribers have a relatively higher willingness to pay compared to new subscribers, and that the willingness to pay increases with longer subscription periods. Furthermore, it was found that breeding-only farms exhibit a higher willingness to pay compared to both fattening and breeding farms. However, in the case of new subscribers, the willingness to pay is lower for breeding-only farms than for fattening and breeding farms. This can be attributed to the low rate of actual insurance claims by new subscribers despite the various insurance coverage options for breeding cattle. Therefore, when transitioning the livestock disease insurance from a pilot project to a continuous project in the future, it is necessary to promote additional subsidy services for new subscribers and provide education on insurance claims for each treatment item.
