Effects of Agricultural ODA on Agricultural GDP: Evidence from Korea’s 3rd-term Priority Partner Countries

Does agricultural ODA contribute to the increase agricultural GDP? If yes, to what extent? Do the impacts of agricultural ODA differ in the mid-term and short-term? Using annual data on agricultural ODA and agricultural GDP, we estimate the effects of agricultural ODA on agricultural GDP with a developed identification strategy. Our estimation results indicate that there is a statistically significant positive relationship between agricultural ODA and agricultural GDP in the mid-term while no statistically significant relationship is observed in the short-term. We also find that this result is predominantly driven by sub-categories such as agricultural administrative management, agricultural water resources, livestock, and agricultural co-operatives.
