This study develops an indicator system to measure competitiveness at the farm level and uses it to analyze the competitiveness of farms based on the farmer’s age, capital size, and the adoption of smart farming technology. The results show that from 2018 to 2022, the farm competitiveness index was relatively higher in farms managed by younger farmers compared to older farmers. Farms with either very small or large capital exhibited higher competitiveness, specifically those in the first and fifth quintiles, respectively. Variability in the competitiveness index was relatively higher among quintiles with higher competitiveness. Farms adopted smart farming technology demonstrated higher profitability, productivity, growth, and competitiveness compared to those without, but the financial burden of the adoption of smart equipment resulted in higher financial stability for farms without such technology. Variability in the competitiveness index was relatively higher among farms that adopted smart farming technology.
