English education is a crucial component of both basic and higher education. In traditional English education concepts, the focus has primarily been on the instrumental value of the language itself. As a result, teachers often adopt instrumental approaches to English education, where students are typically confined to memorization, recitation, and practical writing tasks, leading to limited improvement in their overall English competence. With the introduction of the quality education concept, teaching methods across all levels of education in China have undergone significant changes. Particularly in basic education, there has been a shift in teaching philosophy toward the adoption of humanistic education. This approach places the students at the center, emphasizing the importance of considering teaching from the students’ perspective. The goal is to ensure that students play a central role in the learning process, ultimately enhancing their overall English proficiency and facilitating their personalized development.
英语教育是基础教育乃至大学教育中的重要组成部分,在传统的英语教育理念中,更多的是重视英语本身所具有的工具性。教师们也多采用工具性教育的模式来进行英语教育,学生们往往陷入在记忆、背诵、应用文写作的圈子里,而英语的综合素养却没有得到大的提升。随着素质教育理念的提出,我国各阶段的教学都发生了较大的变化,尤其是在基础教育中,大多都开始转变教学观念,转而采用人性化教育的理念指导教学,从学生的角度出发,展开教学方面的思考,确保学生在教学中的主体性地位,并实现学生英语综合素养的提高、获得个性化的发展。
