노인의 휴먼이미지를 위한 미용복지현황과 활성화 방안 연구

이웃 나라인 일본은 우리 사회가 직면한 저출산과 고령화 문제에 있어 20년 앞선 경험을 갖고 있다. 일본 노인현황 분석을 통해 한국의 초고령화 사회를 미리 진단할 수 있다면 한국에 거주하는 노인들이 겪을 다양한 문제들은 예방할 수 있다고 생각한다. 이에 본 논문에서는 일본의 미용복지현황을 분석한 뒤, 한국의 미용복지 활성화 방안을 제시해 보았다. 과거 일본의 미용복지는 현재 한국과 마찬가지로 복지시설에서 하는 헤어 위주 서비스였으며, 짧게 커트하거나 삭발을 무료로 시행하는 정도였다. 하지만 현재 노인시설에 이·미용실이 마련되어있는 곳들이 늘어났으며, 이·미용 출장서비스를 통해 다양한 불편함을 겪고 있는 노인들에게 미용서비스를 제공한다. 학교에서도 미용복지학과를 만들어 학생들을 교육하여 미용복지사를 양성하고 있다. 이처럼 미용은 노인 생활에 있어 중요한 생활지원 서비스라고 인식하고 있다. 외적측면의 아름다움은 노인의 휴먼이미지 가운데 비가시적 이미지에 많은 영향을 미치고 있다는 연구 결과가 나오고 있다. 노인들의 치매완화, 적극적인 삶의 태도 등 다양한 변화를 주는데 미용산업이 큰 역할을 하고 있다. 한국의 경우 사회복지관, 노인복지관 등을 통하여 개인들이 자발적으로 봉사활동과 재능기부의 형태로 미용복지 서비스를 제공하고 있지만, 아직까지 자격제도 및 체계적인 활동은 없는 실정이다. 일본의 미용복지 서비스산업을 모델로 토대로 미용복지 교육을 통한 미용복지사 양성, 국가의 제도화가 이루어진다면 빠르게 증가하는 노인들의 휴먼이미지와 함께 삶의 질 향상에 도움이 될 것이라 예측한다.

Japan has already experienced the low birthrate and aging population issues that Korean society is currently facing, and it has been dealing with these challenges for the past two decades. This study aims to examine the situation of the elderly in Japan to offer early insights into South Korea's impending super-aged society and help prevent the potential problems that South Korean seniors might encounter. To achieve this, the study analyzes the cosmetology welfare situation in Japan and suggests ways to improve cosmetology welfare in South Korea. In the past, Japan's cosmetology welfare was similar to what South Korea has today, focusing mainly on hair-related services in welfare facilities. These services generally included basic short haircuts, which were provided free of charge. Recently, however, there has been a rise in elderly care facilities with on-site hair salons, and mobile beauty services now offer treatments to seniors who face various challenges. Additionally, schools are setting up cosmetology welfare departments to educate and train students as cosmetology welfare professionals. As mentioned, beauty services are increasingly seen as an essential support for the daily lives of the elderly. Research shows that external appearance significantly influences the non-visible images of the elderly. Beauty services have played a significant role in various aspects of elderly care, including alleviating dementia symptoms and encouraging a more active attitude toward life. In South Korea, people volunteer their beauty services at social welfare centers and senior care facilities through volunteer work and talent donation. However, these services are not yet systematically organized by the government. Therefore, it is expected that adopting Japan's beauty welfare service model, along with implementing beauty welfare education and training for welfare workers in South Korea and establishing well-organized government-led management, could help address the diverse and rapidly growing challenges faced by the elderly.
