서원과 대학의 규정 비교 연구 - 소수서원과 파리 대학을 중심으로

이 글은 한국과 유럽을 대표하는 소수서원과 파리 대학의 설립 과정과 규정에 대해 비교·연구한 것이다. 조선의 서원제도는 주세붕의 백운동서원 설립으로 출현했지만, 서원을 조선사회에 보급·정착시킨 인물은 이황이었다. 그는신진사림의 강학·장수처로서 서원제에 주목해, 문인들과 함께 서원보급 운동을 전개해 조선사회에 하나의 교육제도로 안착하는데 공헌했다. 12세경 새로운 형태의 교육기관으로 출범한 파리 대학은 당시 시대적 변화상을 배경으로설립이 되었다. 신학 대학으로서 국왕과 교황이 특권을 보장해 주면서 대학이라는 교육 기관이 유럽 사회에 정착할 수 있었다. 주세붕은 서원 창건 직후에 원규를 제정했다. 5가지의 전반적인 서원 운영요지를 전제한 뒤 11개의 세목을 마련했다. 이는 한국 서원의 기본 성격을 규정하는 가장 중요한 사안이라 할 수 있다. 원임-향사-관리-입원 등의 차례로구성된 이 원규는 이후에 건립되는 서원의 전범이 되었다. 파리 대학의 학칙은 1215년 교황의 지원을 받으면서 4개의 조항으로 제정이 된다. 학칙의 출발점이라는 점에서 교육사적 의의를 가진다. 초기 파리 대학은 상당한 평등성을지향했기에 입학에 차별하지 않았으며, 4학기제를 운영하면서 강의와 토론식수업을 병행했다. 1255년 교과과정을 새로 개편할 때 3학과 4과로 설정했으며. 인문학부 교수가 이에 대한 필수과목 이수 여부와 학업 성적을 종합적으로 검증했다.

This article is comparative study on the establishment process and regulations on Sosu Seowon and Paris University that respectively represent Korea and Europe. The seowonsystem of Joseon was manifested by establishing Baekwundong Seowonof Joo Se-bong, but the person who dissipated and settled seowonin the Joseon society was Yi Hwang. He paid attention to the Seowon system as the place of study and learning of the new scholars and deployed the seowon dispersion movement together with the writers in a way of contributing to settle it as one of the education systems of the Joseon society. Around the 12th century, Paris University was launched as a new style of education institution and it was established with the background of changing image of the time then. As a theology college, the king and Pope guaranteed its special privilege to have the education institution of university was able to settle into the European society. Joo Se-bong established the academic regulation after the finding of seowon. After premising the outcome of the 5 general seowon operation and then prepared 11 titles. It would be the most important agenda to define the basic characteristics of Korea’s seowon. This academic regulation that is composed in the order of Wonim－Hyangsa－Gwanri－Ipwon has become the classic of seowon that was established thereafter. The school regulation of Paris University was established with 4 provisions with the support of Pope in 1215. It has the education historic implications in the point that it was the starting point of the school regulation. In the beginning, Paris University had striven for equality that there was no discrimination for enrollment, and it had the 4-term system with the simultaneous offering of lecture and discussion style classes. In 1255, when the curriculum was newly revised, it was established in 3 colleges and 4 departments and the professors of humanities department comprehensively verified the completion of required courses and academic grades.
