환율변동의 산업간 파급효과와 수출경쟁력 분석

The Linkage Effect of Exchange Rate on International Competitiveness among the Korean Industries

본 연구는 우리나라 생산기술과 산업구조를 나타내는 산업연관표를 이용하여 환율변동이 산업간 전후방 연결구조를 통하여 산업별수출가경경쟁력에 어떻게 영향을 미치는가를 분석한다. 환율인하로 인한 수출경쟁력 저하도 산업별로 다르며 산업간의 연결관계와 수입원자재 사용비용에 따라 다를 것이다. 이때 수입원자재의 사용비율은 직접사용뿐만 아니라 이 산업에 투입되는 국산중간재의 생산에 사용된 수입원자재들에도 영향을 미칠 것이다. 따라서 환율변동의 산업간 파급효과와 수출경쟁력의 분석을 위해서는 산업연관표의 사용은 필수적이라 하겠다. 즉 수입원자재와 중간재가 환율 인하를 통하여 수출경쟁력에 미치는 영향을 생각해 보자. 각 산업에 직접 투입되는 수입원자재 및 중간재의 비율인 직접수입률은 다음과 같이 계산된다

In this study, we analyze the impact of exchange rate changes of korean manufacturing industries with an emphasis on linkage effects among industries. In the existing studies on the influence of exchange rate change, industrial linkage effects are ignored. Considering the linkage effects, we find two theoretic facts. First, when exchange rate decreases, the cost(in dollars) in an industry with high total import rate(TIR) increases less than the cost in an industry with low TIR. Second, the higher TIR of an industry, the greater the increase in cost due to the increase in import price.
