Concept Analysis of Role Conflict of Clinical Nurses

Purpose : The aim of this study was to identify the role conflict of clinical nurses and make clear attribute of the role conflict of clinical nurses reflected on the view of general hospital nursing setting. Methods : Concept analysis was conducted using Walker and Avant’s eight step approach with research on databases, including Pubmed, CINAHL, Google scholar, RISS, DBpia. KISS for papers and journals with the keywords ‘nurses’, ‘role conflict of nurses’, ‘role’ and ‘conflict’ where the original texts could be found. Results : The key attributes were identified as ‘Lack of information about work’, ‘Anxiety due to lack of role clarity in work’ and ‘Lack of identity due to absence of legal and institutional implications’. Conclusion : The concept analysis provides insight into nature of the role conflict of clinical nurses and also helps ground the concept in general hospital nursing setting.
