Analysis of Recent Research Trends on Carbon-neutral Nursing within ESG in South Korea

Purpose : This study aims to examine research trends related to carbon-neutral nursing over the past decade and provide foundational data for promoting carbon-neutral nursing practices. Methods : This study analyzed five papers retrieved from the Korea Education and Research Information Service (KERIS), the Research Information Sharing Service (RISS 2.0), Dbpia 6.0, and KoreaMed from January 2014 to March 2024, using 'carbon-neutral nursing' and 'carbon neutrality' as the main keywords. Results : The study identified that primary topics and titles included infectious waste management, eco-friendly medical services, ESG management, carbon neutrality, medical waste disposal, ESG healthcare management, strategies to improve inequality among nursing staff, eco-friendly nursing practices, environmental awareness, green healthcare, and attitudes toward eco-friendly behaviors. Conclusion : The increasing research on carbon-neutral nursing highlights the growing emphasis on environmental protection and sustainable development in the field of nursing. This trend has the potential to positively impact nursing practice and education while providing foundational data for sustainable development. Future research should adopt a comprehensive approach to implementing carbon-neutral nursing practices by integrating knowledge from various fields, including environmental science, policy research, and technological innovation.
