Purpose: This study aims to explain the influence of Financial Technology (fintech) on the profitability of Palestine's banking sector before and during the coronavirus pandemic. Design/methodology/approach: This study used pre-post regression analysis techniques. This study targeted the entire population of 138 observations from 14 Palestinian banks operating from 2012 to 2022. The statistical analysis package (SPSS) was used to test the effects of the variables to achieve the study's aims. Findings: The results of this study indicate that each independent variable affected profitability differently before COVID-19; however, during COVID-19, there was no statistical significance in the Palestinian banking sector. Research limitations/implications: This research was conducted in an unstable political and economic area, which limits the generalization of the findings. The findings of this study assist investors in the decision-making process and help regular bodies set fintech laws. Originality/value: This study is the first to examine the effect of fintech on profitability in the Palestinian context.
