This study aims to explore the direction of cultural education in Korean language short-term programs by examining the Jeonju NSLI-Y case. To achieve this, the study synthesizes and restructures existing research to establish “principles for selecting cultural education content” and classifies cultural education into teaching and learning methods to analyze the Jeonju NSLI-Y program. Based on the analysis, the study proposes four key directions for cultural education in short-term Korean language programs. First, there should be a diversification of student experience components. Second, there is a need to integrate language and culture more effectively. Third, balanced implementation of teaching and learning methods should be emphasized. Lastly, greater awareness of the cultural educational value of homestay and buddy programs should be fostered. The significance of this study lies in its focus on the importance of cultural education in Korean language short-term programs and its proposal of directions for improvement. It is expected that this study will serve as a valuable reference for selecting cultural content and designing teaching and learning methods in future programs.
