은유를 활용한 자기표현적 글쓰기의 효과와 의의

A Study on the Guidance Method and Effect of Self-Expressive Writing Using Metaphor

본고는 대학생의 자기표현적 글쓰기에서 학습자가 은유를 활용하여 자신의 경험과 내면을 구체적으로 표현하는 방법을 탐색하도록 하는 데에 목적이 있다. 글쓰기는 단순한 도구적 행위가 아니라 자기 성찰과 인문학적 사고를 요구하는 과정으로, 학습자가 스스로를 이해하고 타인과 소통하는 데 중요한 역할을 한다. 자기표현 글쓰기는 글쓰기의 이러한 성찰적·반성적 효과를 잘 살릴 수 있는 글이다. 그러나 자기표현 글쓰기는 형식에 얽매이지 않는 자율성 때문에 구체화 과정을 거치지 않는다면 반성적 사고로 수렴되지 못하는 한계를 드러내게 된다. 또한, 이러한 한계를 극복하고 자기표현 글쓰기를 지도할 실제적 교수방법에 대한 연구도 부족한 실정이다. 본고에서는 위와 같은 문제의식에서 출발하여 대학생의 자기표현 글쓰기에서 인지의미론을 바탕으로 한 은유를 활용해서 자신을 특정 대상으로 한정함으로써 추상적인 자아를 명사로 구체화하고, 내면세계에서 나온 무질서한 이 명사에 질서를 부여하고 주제를 찾는 은유의 연쇄적 연결 과정을 학습자들에게 적용하는 교수법을 제시하였다. 은유는 자기표현 글쓰기에서 학습자가 자신을 구체적으로 표현할 수 있게 돕는 도구로 사용되었다. 자신을 드러내는 명사를 열거하고, 이를 은유 문장으로 발전시키며, 최종적으로 자아를 표현하는 글쓰기로 확장해 나가는 일련의 과정을 자기표현적 글쓰기 수업에 적용하였다. 그 결과 학습자가 자기표현을 위한 참신한 소재를 발견하고 이를 구체화하는 과정을 거쳐, 최종적으로 학습자의 창의적 사고력과 국어 사용 능력이 향상되는 효과를 확인하였다.

The purpose of this paper is to allow learners to explore how to use metaphors to express their experiences and inner feelings in college students' self-expressive writing. Writing is not just an instrumental act, but a process that requires self-reflection and humanistic thinking, and plays an important role in learners' understanding of themselves and communicating with others. Self-expression writing is a writing that can make good use of this reflective and reflective effect of writing. However, because of the autonomy that is not bound by form, self-expression writing reveals the limitation of not converging into reflective thinking if it does not go through a concrete process. There is also a lack of research on practical teaching methods to overcome these limitations and guide self-expression writing. Starting with the above problem consciousness, this paper presents a teaching method that focuses on oneself as a specific object using metaphors based on cognitive semantics in college students' self-expression writing, embodies the abstract self into words, gives order to these words that are disordered from the inner world, and applies the categorization process to students to find a topic. In self-expression writing, metaphor was used as a tool to help learners express themselves concretely. A series of processes were applied to self-expression writing classes to list self-expressing words, develop them into metaphorical sentences, and eventually expand them into self-expression writing. As a result, the learner discovered novel materials for self-expression and embodied them, and finally confirmed the effect of improving the learner's creative thinking and ability to use Korean language.
