The Enlightenment discourse, which appeared in modern Korean literature in the early modern era, can be viewed through the works of Shin Chae-ho and Jang Ji-young. First, it is the enlightenment discourse of post-Confucianism represented by Shin Chae-ho. Shin Chae-ho rejects both Chinese-centeredness and Western universalism based on studying abroad and advocates nationalism. Since then, Shin Chae-ho has established a post-religious discourse that rejects all religions (Confucianism, Islam, Buddhism, Christianity) that have entered in Korea. Second, Jang Ji-yeon's enlightenment discourse was based on Confucianism and based on this, it was intended to accept Western technology. Although Jang Ji-yeon accepts Western technology, he never gave up the ideology of Confucianism. In the end, however, Jang Ji-young's discussion of enlightenment resulted in Japan's pro-Japanese relationship.
