This paper is a study on the change in the function and use of oceanic structures according to the transformation of sea area utilization within and around harbor cities. Recently, there have been cases of the closure and demolition of the existing oceanic structures in sea areas surrounding harbor cities; thereby, this movement opened up the new possibility to remodel or repurpose these structures and areas in keeping pace with the changing social needs for their new utilization. For the utilization of the sea areas, it is important to identify and organize the remodelling of existing marine buildings and their characteristics. Accordingly, this study investigates the ins and outs of oceanic structures from their initial construction historically to their changes in renovation and usage, and also illustrates the actual conditions for the establishment of oceanic structures including their location and facility usage.
