[Background] The enameled ceramics art of Chaoshan temple, as a unique traditional art form, holds an important position in local culture and religious beliefs. With the modern design field's increasing attention to traditional culture, the Taoist cultural symbols in enameled ceramics art have gradually attracted attention. [Objective] This study aims to deeply analyze the Taoist cultural symbols in the enameled ceramics art of Chaoshan temple, exploring its craft characteristics, cultural significance, and the possibility of modern inheritance and innovation. [Method] By systematically organizing the materials, production techniques, and symbolic expressions of enameled ceramics, the study reveals the specific manifestations of Taoist symbols in the art and their deep integration with local culture. Additionally, the research discusses how enameled ceramics art constructs a unique visual language and cultural identity through the theories of Feng Shui and the Five Elements. [Results] The study found that Taoist symbols in enameled ceramics art, such as dragons, phoenixes, mythical beasts, and talismans, convey ideas like “Tao follows nature,” “comprehending Tao,” and “cultivating virtue,” reflecting the integration of religious beliefs and visual culture. Despite facing challenges in inheritance in contemporary times, enameled ceramics art is expected to break through traditional limitations and achieve modern development through innovative applications and global promotion. [Conclusion] Enameled ceramics art plays a significant role at the intersection of tradition and modernity. Its revitalization in contemporary society not only deepens the understanding of the role of Taoist cultural symbols in local architectural art but also provides insights into the inheritance and innovation of traditional art in modern society, showing its unique potential and development trends in modern spatial design.
