현대 사회에서 생성형 인공지능의 발전은 목회 활동과 저작권 문제에 있어 새로운 도전을 야기시키고 있다. 독일 성바울교회의 GhatGPT 예배 사례처럼, 생성형 AI는 설교, 기도, 찬송 등 예배에 활용될 수 있으며, 성경 번역본, 설교집, 찬송가 등의 교회 저작물의 창작행위에 있어 생성형 AI를 이용할 수도 있다. 이처럼 생성형 AI는 예배와 선교에 유용한 도구로 활용될 가능성이 높지만, 교회 저작물과 관련된 다양한 저작권 문제를 야기할 수 있다. 예컨대, 목회자가 생성형 AI를 이용하여 특정 주제에 맞는 설교문과 기도문을 생성한 경우, 이때 설교문과 기도문은 저작물에 해당하는지, 저작물에 해당한다면 저작자는 누구인지 등과 같은 문제가 발생한다. 설교문과 기도문 외에도 저작권의 관점에서 보면 교회에는 다양한 저작물이 존재하기 때문에 교회 저작물과 관련하여 생성형 AI를 활용한 창작물에 대한 저작권 문제에 대해 검토가 필요한 시점이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 목회 활동에 있어 생성형 AI의 활용 사례를 중심으로 내재된 저작권 문제를 점검하고, 국내외 AI 창작물에 대한 판단 및 유사 사례 검토를 바탕으로 생성형 AI를 활용한 교회와 관련한 다양한 창작물의 저작권 문제를 검토하였다.
The development of generative AI in the modern world is creating new challenges for ministry and copyright issues. Generative AI can be used in worship, such as in the GhatGPT service at St. Paul's Church in Germany, for sermons, prayers, and hymns, and it can also be used to create church works, such as Bible translations, sermon collections, and hymnals. While generative AI has the potential to be a useful tool for worship and mission, it can also raise a variety of copyright issues related to church works. For example, if a pastor uses generative AI to generate sermons and prayers for a particular topic, the question arises as to whether the sermons and prayers are copyrighted works and, if so, who owns the copyright. In addition to sermons and prayers, there are various other works in the church from the perspective of copyright, so it is necessary to examine the copyright issues of works created using generative AI in relation to church works. In this study, we examined the copyright issues inherent in the use of generative AI in pastoral activities, and reviewed the copyright issues of various works related to churches using generative AI based on judgments on AI works at home and abroad and a review of similar cases.
