Sequential Mediating Effects of Cultural Competence and Learning Engagement in the Relationship between Emotional Intelligence and Career Decision-Making Self-Efficacy of College Students

목적 본 연구는 대학생의 정서지능과 진로결정 자기효능감의 관계에서 문화역량과 학습몰입의 매개효과를 검증하고, 두 변인의 관계에서 문화역량과 학습몰입이 순차적으로 매개하는지를 분석하였다. 방법 서울과 경기 소재 대학생 301명을 대상으로 정서지능, 자기효능감, 문화역량, 학습몰입을 측정하기 위한 설문을 실시하였다. 매개효과 검증을 위해 SPSS Macro Process를 활용하여 Bootstrapping 분석을 수행하였다. 결과 첫째, 대학생의 정서지능은 진로결정 자기효능감, 문화역량, 학습몰입에 유의한 영향을 미쳤으며, 문화역량은 학습몰입과 진로결정 자기효능감에 유의한 영향을 미쳤고, 학습몰입 또힌 진로결정 자기효능감에 유의하였다. 둘째, 정서지능과 진로결정 자기효능감의 관계에서 문화역량과 학습몰입 각각의 매개효과가 유의하게 나타났다. 셋째, 정서지능과 진로결정 자기효능감의 관계에서 문화역량과 학습몰입의 순차적 매개효과역시 유의하였다. 결론 본 연구는 정서지능과 진로결정 자기효능감의 관계에서 문화역량의 매개효과, 학습몰입의 매개효과 그리고 문화역량과 학습몰입의 순차적 매개효과를 밝혔다는 점에서 학문적 의의가 있다. 이는 학생들의 정서지능 뿐만 아니라, 문화역량과 학습몰입을 동시에 증진시킬 수 있는 포괄적이고 체계적인 방안의 필요성을 시사한다.

Objectives This study aimed to analyze whether cultural competence and learning engagement have significant mediating effects in the relationship between emotional intelligence and career decision-making self-efficacy in university students. Additionally, it examined whether cultural competence and learning engagement sequentially mediate the relationship between these two variables. Methods To achieve this, a survey was conducted on 301 university students in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province to measure their emotional intelligence, self-efficacy, cultural competence, and learning engagement. The mediation effects were verified using bootstrapping analysis with the SPSS Macro Process Results First, emotional intelligence in university students was found to be significant for career decision-making self-efficacy, cultural competence, and learning engagement. Cultural competence was significant for learning engagement and career decision-making self-efficacy, and learning engagement was significant for career decision-making self-efficacy. Second, the mediating effects of cultural competence and learning engagement were significant in the relationship between emotional intelligence and career decision-making self-efficacy. Third, the sequential mediating effects of cultural competence and learning engagement were also significant in this relationship. Conclusions The study is academically significant as it reveals the mediating effects of cultural competence and learning engagement in the relationship between emotional intelligence and career decision-making self-efficacy. Additionally, the significant sequential mediating effects of cultural competence and learning engagement were confirmed. This suggests the need to explore comprehensive and systematic approaches to simultaneously enhance students' emotional intelligence, cultural competence, and learning engagement.
