This study examines the implications of the HomoDeus perspective on human life, death, and tourism activities, with a particular focus on tourism practices in South Korea. A qualitative approach was employed, centered on focus group interviews(FGI) with local experts and stakeholders, to gain in-depth insights into the influence of cultural and societal norms on the nation's tourism industry. The concept of HomoDeus, as articulated by Yuval Noah Harari, posits that the future of human beings may transcend traditional biological limits through technological advancements. This paper examines the potential influence of such a transition on tourism activities related to life and death themes within this distinctive cultural context. The findings contribute to theoretical discussions in the field of tourism studies and offer a novel perspective on sustainable and future-oriented tourism, reflecting the distinctive characteristics of South Korean society.
