중·고등학교 지적장애 학생의 디지털 미디어 활용 경험과 교육적 요구에 대한 탐색

Exploring the Experience and Educational Needs of Secondary School Students with Intellectual Disabilities in Using Digital Media

이 연구는 중·고등학교 특수학급에 재학 중인 경도 지적장애 학생들의 디지털 미디어 활용 경험과 교육적 요구를 탐색하기 위해 수행되었다. 이를 위해 연구참여자 선정 기준에 따라 지적장애 학생 11명을 4개 집단으로 나누어 초점집단 면담을 진행하였다. 수집된 면담 자료는 반복적 비교분석법을 통해 분석했으며, 그 결과 3개의 주요 주제와 9개의 하위 주제, 29개의 세부 내용을 도출하였다. 주요 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 특수학급의 지적장애 학생들은 또래와 유사하게 디지털 미디어 문화를 공유하고 경험하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 이들은 디지털 미디어를 통해 일상에서 느끼지 못했던 존재감과 긍정적인 상호작용을 경험하지만, 동시에 지적장애로 인한 다양한 어려움과 한계도 겪고 있었다. 셋째, 지적장애 학생들은 미래 디지털 사회에 필요한 맞춤형 디지털 리터러시 교육에 대한 다양한 요구와 필요를 보였다. 연구자들은 이러한 결과를 바탕으로, 지적장애 학생들의 능력과 특성에 맞는 맞춤형 디지털 미디어 리터러시 교육의 필요성과 방향성에 대한 시사점을 제시하였다.

This study explored the experiences of using digital media and the related educational needs of secondary school students with mild intellectual disabilities enrolled in special education classes. For this purpose, 11 students with intellectual disabilities were selected based on specific criteria and divided into four groups for focus group interviews. The collected interview data were analyzed using a repeated comparative analysis method, which resulted in the identification of three main themes, 9 sub-themes, and 29 detailed elements. The key findings are as follows: First, students with intellectual disabilities in special education classes shared and experienced digital media culture similarly to their peers. Second, while they experienced a sense of presence and engaged in positive interactions through digital media, they also faced various challenges and limitations due to their intellectual disabilities. Third, the students expressed diverse needs and demands for customized digital literacy education that align with the future digital society of their daily lives. Based on these findings, the researchers provided implications for developing tailored digital media literacy education that considers the abilities and characteristics of students with intellectual disabilities.
