A Methodology of Maintenance and Management of Fishing Ports in the Western and Southern Coast of Korea

In the case of small-scale fishing ports, it is difficult to review hydraulic characteristics, and to acquire data as the results of the task are not managed. In this study, through the examples of representative fishing ports located on the west coast, methods such as marine physical investigation, numerical modeling, identification of the cause of erosion and deposition of fishing ports, and maintenance and management plans were presented. The main results are summed up like the following. 1) The characteristics of the sea area are identified through marine physical investigations such as wave observation, tidal observation, tidal current observation, suspended solid observation, and sea bottom sediment survey, and the cause of erosion and deposition was analyzed and reviewed through bathymetry. 2) The hydraulic characteristics of the target sea area were identified by utilizing the results of marine physical investigations in numerical modeling such as wave deformation modeling, hydrodynamic numerical modeling, and sediment transfer simulation. 3) Various erosion and deposition reduction measures were reviewed to derive an optimal reduction plan and establish future maintenance plans.
