A Study on Improvement of Teaching and Learning on Aviation English for Specific Purpose (EPTA/ATC) : Focused on Pilot and Air Traffic Controller

The aims of this study is first to teach and learn on aviation English for Specific Purpose (EPTA/ATC), to analyze the problems of current aviation English education program, and to suggest the teaching and learning system for Korean pilots and air traffic controllers. This study analyzes the the survey from 90 Korean pilots and air traffic controllers. Aviation ESP (EPTA/ATC), that is, teaching and learning courses involving practical training, are essential in airlines and other institutions. Air operation-related universities operate aviation ESP (EPTA/ATC) courses, prefer a combination of face-to-face and non-face-to-face training programs, and respond that training content also requires an increase in the proportion of practical exercises centered on actual flight situations. In addition, there is a consensus concerning implementing education with aviation specific learning motivations and learning strategies
