This study examines the organization and operation of Reading British and English Literature as a career elective in 16 general high schools in Jeju under the 2015 Revised National Curriculum. Surveys with 53 teachers reveal strong support (75.5%) for the course, with 88.7% favoring its placement in the second year to allow literature-focused learning free from Korean SAT pressures. Performance-based assessments, emphasizing creative and critical thinking, were widely used. Teacher interviews further highlight the course's educational value in fostering literary appreciation and student engagement. Despite its benefits, the study emphasizes the need for enhanced teacher training and innovative teaching methods to maximize its impact. This research offers practical insights for refining Reading British and English Literature curricula, supporting students' academic and career development, and guiding future curriculum improvements.
