Recently, K-content has established itself as a global trend. Among them, Netflix's original Korean drama Squid Game created a box office hit, ranking first in more than 90 countries around the world. Meanwhile, along with the success of Squid Game, subtitle translation, which plays a major role in content consumption by overseas viewers, also drew attention. This study attempted to analyze how the culture-bound terms in the Squid Game was translated, what are the untranslatable elements, and how it relates to the characteristics of image translation. As real-time Korean dramas and other broadcasts are spreading to countries around the world as the epicenter of the Korean Wave, such as Squid Game, one of the tasks that must be addressed is the urgent need for a “systematic framework” in translating Korean vocabulary into English. It is intended to contribute to the field of English education for net distribution by helping to establish the framework through analysis.
