Analysis of the Current State of the New Space Industry and Proposing Efficient Insurance Solutions

우주산업의 발전은 전 세계적으로 가속화되고 있으며 특히 우리나라는 군사적으로 그 중요성이 더욱 부각되고 있다. 그동안 우주보험 분야는 특정 위험을 관리하는 역할로 성장해왔지만 최근 뉴스페이스 산업의 등장과 함께 우주에서 발생하는 위험이 더 확장되고 있어 우주보험 분야는 더욱 도전적인 상황에 놓이게 되었다. 특히 군사 목적으로 사용되는 군집위성 사업은 보안, 비용 등의 문제로 국내 뉴스페이스 기업들의 기술력을 활용할 수밖에 없지만 경험도가 부족한 이 기업들을 국제 우주보험 시장에서 인수하기란 쉽지 않다. 따라서 본 논문은 세계 우주산업과 우주보험 현황을 검토하고 안정적 위성운용을 위한 효율적 보험처리 방안을 제안하고자 하였다.

The development of the space industry is accelerating worldwide, and in particular, its importance is increasingly highlighted in Korea's military. Space insurance has been growing as a means of risk management, but recently, with the emergence of new satellite operators in the New Space industry, it is causing great changes. In Korea, companies pursuing New Space are also emerging in line with this trend, but the space environment is still dangerous, and insurance is facing an even more challenging situation. In particular, the constellation satellite business used for military purposes has no choice but to utilize domestic New Space companies due to security, cost, etc. issues, but it is not easy to underwrite these companies that lack heritage in the international space insurance market. Therefore, this manuscript aims to review the current status of the global space industry and space insurance and propose an efficient insurance processing plan for stable satellite operation.
