모바일 채팅 맥락에서 이모지의 움직임과 시각적 복잡성이 정서 지각에 미치는 영향

Effect of Emoji Motion and Visual Complexity on Emotional Perception in Mobile Chatting Context

본 연구는 온라인 모바일 채팅 플랫폼에서 제공되는 이모지의 움직임 효과와 시각적 복잡성이 정서 지각에 미치는 영향을 알아보려고 했다. 이를 위해 움직임 효과 유무, 시각적 복잡성 고저 두 변인을 2×2 완전 무선화 블록 실험으로 설계 하여 정서 지각에 미치는 영향을 측정하였다. 결과, 시각적 복잡성이 높은 이모지는 정서 지각 정확성과 정서 지각 강도에 영향을 미쳤으나, 움직임 효과가 추가된 이모지는 정서 지각 강도에만 영향을 미친 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 움직임 효과가 있는 이모지는 단순 정서 표현을 넘어 이모지 송신자가 정서적 행동을 전달하는 것으로 지각될 경향성이 있다는 결과를 얻었다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 정서적 함의를 강화한 이모지 제작시, 시각적 복잡성과 움직임 효과를 결합한 디자인 전략의 중요성을 제시하고 있다.

This study investigated how motion and visual complexity of emojis in online mobile chat platforms influence emotional perception. A 2×2 within-subjects completely randomized block design experiment measured the effects of motion (present or absent) and visual complexity (high or low) on emotional perception. Results revealed that highly complex emojis enhanced both emotional perception accuracy and intensity, while motion effects only increased emotional intensity. Moreover, emojis with motion were perceived as conveying the senders emotional actions rather than just emotional expressions. These findings emphasize the importance of combining visual complexity and motion effects when designing emojis for effective emotional communication.
